We do not see things as they are,

WE SEE THEM AS WE ARE

Every act of creation begins with an act of destruction. -Pablo Picasso

Kelli RACHELLE BAKER

Singer/songwriter born and raised in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

Bounces between New York, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. Sixth grade spelling bee champion.

WHO IS IT YOU THINK YOU SEE

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Kelli Baker moved to New York in 2012, with $500 in cash, chasing the heels of Hurricane Sandy.

She was taught music and voice in the church choir, went on to audition choral groups, performing the National Anthem for the NBA at 17  (Phoenix Suns), fronting a hard rock group, pairing in a folk duo, and eventually, writing and performing for herself.

The sudden death of her beloved father in 2015 was a turning point in her life.  Life before is part one.  This is part two.

Kelli has been compared to Liz Phair, Chris Cornell, PJ Harvey, and Aretha Franklin. She describes herself as if 1990’s Liz Phair sang blues/rock. Her major influences are The Rolling Stones, Jane’s Addiction, The Black Crowes, Bonnie Raitt and Neil Young.

She performs independently and with various local acts, including Rolling Stones tribute, “Let it Bleed”. For bookings, please email kellibakermusic@gmail.com

Kelli is currently in production at Milk House Studios with multi-platinum producer  Philip A. Jimenez. She resides just outside of New York City with her daughter, Ashlee.

You taste like a Sunday, slept in

You taste like a Sunday, slept in

InShot_20190318_154020683.jpg

what is it about me

that scares you about you

My memory expels you

My cells long to forget you

Your skin leaves my skin

Like the dust to the floor

Ashes to ashes

You are dust

We are

My skin has forgotten you and

The beautiful way you were before

My skin has forgotten you

I don’t know you anymore

I’m fine, we’re all fine here.  I’m not for everyone.

Your swords hold my skin to bone. Who would I be if I let go?
